Mother’s Day at Spirit of Faith

On May 17 Spirit of Faith celebrated Mothers.  The reason was so we could give an opportunity to families to celebrate their mothers on the 10th of May.  In Mexico, Mothers are celebrated invariably on the 10th of this month.  We had a beautiful service honoring them and a delicious meal for the whole congregation.

Yesterday we celebrated Children’s day at Spirit of Faith. The youth organization from our congregation together with the adults and Pastor Enrique decided to put up a program that included games, food, gifts and candy to give a chance to all of our children to celebrate their day. We showed them our love and appreciation and how important they are to Christ. I am very proud of our Teens and young adults who prepare such a celebration.

Celebrating Easter at Spirit of Joy and Spirit of Faith

Holy week was a very intense time for our ministry in the Monterrey area.  We celebrated three special services.

On Thursday we had a candlelight service which was well attended by our people.  That evening we were together for an awesome time of fellowship.

On Friday we had The Seven Last Words of Jesus from the Cross.  Another great opportunity to exalt Jesus.  It was an interactive service and a lot of members from the congregation participated.

On Sunday at 7:00 AM, challenged by the savings time hour change, we came to church and celebrated Jesus’ resurrection.  Full of power, full of Grace and full of Glory Jesus came out of the dead and He brought us to life!

From there we went to the country and had a blast by a swimming pool.  We ate together there and played games the whole day.

Spirit of Faith-St. Valentine’s Day Celebration

We had a great evening with our youth!  There was some reaching concerning love from the Christian point of view, karaoke, little gifts for everyone, lots of fun and even a marriage proposal of two of our members!

Spirit of Faith Youth

Our youth at Spirit of Faith are visiting hospitals to feed the hungry and share the Gospel.  They collected money and made sandwiches and distributed some materials to introduce Christ.  it was raining and we were not allowed to approach the door, but people came and formed a line and we gave them food.  Also many of them share the suffering their loved ones are going through so we prayed we them.  God loves people through our youth.

It was dark and cold, But that did not stop them!  Their task was fulfilled!

2015 Report of Activities of Spirit of Faith Lutheran Community Church- Apodaca, Nuevo Leon

Dear Friends and partners in ministry,

What a joy to be able to serve God and his people in our capacity. We see God’s hand on every thing we do and say. There is a great joy serving him in Missions. Our hearts are full of joy as we share the good news of salvation in our area.

Last month was a month full of activities in our Spirit of Faith congregation. Our last days in December we celebrated fully the Birth of our Lord at Spirit of Faith. Lots of color, joy, food and a great amount of the Spirit were present in our lives. Our congregation is vibrant with lots of young adults and teenagers. They are always ready to serve. Now they are getting ready to jump into the New Year and start serving the community. The first activity they will do is to feed the hungry at the Hospitals. Usually hospitals have hundreds of poor people on the waiting rooms and on the street waiting to see their patients. They hardly eat and we will go and try to meet a need there. Then, as we advance on the year they will find different activities to evangelize other youth and bring them to Christ and help them to maintain their relationship with God.

The same way our adults will celebrate different gatherings to reach out and bring others to Christ. Spirit of Faith is a hard working congregation and they have the desire to serve the community so they may see that Jesus is in our hearts.

  • Feeding the Hungry at Hospitals. We visit hospitals and feed the people whose patients are admitted but they have to wait outside for days.
  • We celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. This is a great opportunity for the church to show friendship and love.
  • A Spring Retreat in Rio Bravo Mexico. Together with the other MMI congregations, we celebrate a 3-day retreat during April.
  • Vacation Bible School. Usually we minister to more than 80 children from the community with the gospel. Some congregations help us with the materials.
  • Summer Retreat “CLEFEST”. The youth are getting ready to celebrate a summer gathering for teens and young adults with great music and activities.
  • Outreach gatherings for Adults. At least once a year we have some kind of a Dinner-Conference for Adults and share the Gospel with them.
  • Bible Studies for discipleship. There is a group of about 10 to 12 people who are being trained to serve in different capacities in the church.
  • Independence day celebration. We celebrate our culture, specially for the freedom we have to practice Christianity in Mexico.
  • Reformation Day Fair. Being Lutheran we try to witness to the community celebrating Reformation Day.
  • Christmas celebrations for youth. Great Joy and celebration during Christmas among our youth Church
  • Christmas Celebration for the Church. The Church throws a great party celebrating Jesus Birth every year. Lots of drama, food, piñatas, candy and gifts.
  • Our Youth meets every Saturday and they will be studying our Faith through the Apostles Creed. They are a group of no less that 17 kids of different ages.
  • On Sundays
  • Our Church pray every single Tuesday for the needs of the people of God and keep track of the prayers. We see great miracles happening as we pray.

As you see we have a vibrant congregation, willing to serve Christ in many ways. They do everything with a great SPIRIT OF FAITH.

MMI Friends and partners in the expansion of the Gospel, I would like to greet you in the name that is above all names. This time let us declare together that Jesus our Savior is born. We are almost ready to celebrate Christmas and we are full of the Spirit that such a celebration brings. Rejoice as you share with world these tidings of comfort and joy.

Another year is gone and we continue sharing the News of Salvation in our ministry in Mexico. After these two decades of ministry we have experienced fully what it means to be a true Christian in an environment where people are more yield to manifest a lifestyle that fits more to what the world requires than to what God teaches us in his Word. To survive as a Christian in Mexico can be a difficult task. As in many other parts of the world Christianity is under the attacks of the enemy. We live on a very secularized world and each day is harder to express your faith without feeling that your approach is judgmental and out fashioned. So, we as a Lutheran Church in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Rio Bravo are committed to continue proclaiming the unaltered Gospel, keeping it as pure as we can. Our objective since Mission Mexico International was born has been to establish a Lutheran Church with a different approach. And as time passes I can see that our goal is being fulfilled. The ride has not been an easy one. On the way we lost people, we fail again and again. And now we are able to proclaim that Jesus is Lord and that he has been with us along the way. The transformation of the people is more profound when we are able to help them to cope with their sins, when people recognize that they really need Jesus in their hearts and in their daily lives and then they get the desire to live accordingly to what they believe now.

As you can see the work we are doing in our communities is profound. We want God to go deep into the hearts of the people and create them anew to the point that they now are living completely for Jesus. One of the greatest tools that we have received from God to evangelize is our testimony, it is our experience with him, it is our faith story.

In my particular case serving two small congregations in the Metro Area of Monterrey has been a great opportunity to apply what I just share before with you. 2013 and 2014 were years of a deep growth in areas that we thought we were mature already and yet we found ourselves weak and looking for help from the head of the church, Jesus the Master. My ministry is interconnected with Pastor Victor Barbosa in Rio Bravo. He is a men who serves God from his heart. He is a very committed Christian together with his wife Lucy. He is challenged also in many ways to proclaim the true gospel in a community where the Gospel is adultered by others and people do not want to respond to his preaching based on the wrong doings of other Christians. But he is faithful and God is honoring that. Pastor Juan Vazquez is my other partner in ministry in our country. He decided to go to a different city to start a new congregation. The main Challenge he has is to proclaim the gospel also in a community where humans use religion as a controlling tool to stop people of experiencing the freedom in Christ. People are dying in their sins with no hope, As Juan brings this fresh wind to the lives of the people in Guadalajara, we see how his congregants start breathing fresh air and becoming alive in Jesus.

So Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Pray for us and continue supporting our ministry in any way you can. God is at work in Mexico. I know God is with us. Jesus is Born. He will save the world from their sins. I really thank all of you for believing in what God is doing in Mexico. Blessings.
